Spiral Staircase Product Photography in Downtown Birmingham Alabama by nikonic1976@yahoo.com

One of the great things about being a commercial photographer is the uniqueness of each job. Unlike weddings or portraits which follow a pretty consistent formula, each commercial photography assignment presents unique challenges. Even if the basic subject is similar from one job to another, the vision of the client and the goal they are trying to accomplish will be different. As a commercial photographer I’ve created ad campaign images for a birdseed manufacturer. Photographed models posing as college students using a dorm installed washer and dryer for the company that made them. I’ve even photographed a concrete house for a magazine. So when I was contacted by a company in Indiana about photographing a spiral staircase installed in a downtown Birmingham office I was not at all surprised.

Now, you might think that shooting a staircase would be pretty boring. For some photographers I’m sure it is. For me though, it was a unique challenge. I needed to choose the right angles, depth of field, and lighting to best show the product as it was in the working environment. The office space itself was beautiful but poorly lit. Using only natural light would have made it look like it was in a cave. Clearly that would do the client no good. So I experimented with different strobes, with different light modifiers, in different positions, and at different powers until I had what I felt would show off the product and it’s environment without looking like it was unnatural.

I feel like the final product was successful in accomplishing that goal!

Switch Audio Visual - Google Business Photos - Birmingham, AL by nikonic1976@yahoo.com

Last week I was able to create a Google Business Photos virtual tour of Switch Audio Visual at their new office on W Oxmoor Rd in Birmingham. The owner, Justin Hardy, has an amazing amount of energy with a matching level of attention to detail. So much so that it might be on the border of obsessive! Seriously, I enjoy working with business owners like this. They tend to appreciate the work that goes into creating the perfect images and tour to present their business to the world. Equally impressive is what his company does. If you want the most amazing home theatre experience possible, Switch can take care of you. He sells, services, and installs a wide range of TVs, audio, and home automation systems. Whether you are looking to spend $800 or $80,000, need residential or commercial services, you should give Justin and his team at Switch AV a call!

See the commercial still images and Google Business Photos 360º virtual tour below. To learn more about Switch AV check them out on their homepage.

Butler's Grooming Club for Men - Google Business Photos by nikonic1976@yahoo.com

Last week I was able to create a Google Business Photos virtual tour of Butler's Grooming Club for men. Located inside Saks Fifth Ave at the Summit in Birmingham, Butler's is like no place I've ever seen before. It's an amazingly upscale men's salon (not really sure if that's the best word choice but I'm going with it). Honestly, this is the kind of place that I would expect in Los Angeles, or New York, but in Birmingham? No, I would not expect that. To say that the place is impressive would be quite the understatement. First, there's the aesthetics. From the flooring, to the wall art, to the lighting, and materials, this place has been well thought out and put together. Just being there you get a sensation of richness. Then there are the services. Not only first rate haircuts, but also massage, full barber services (shaving, trimming, etc), private VIP suite, manicure, pedicure, and waxing. The people are all very professional, and very talented. With two master barbers on staff plus stylists, Butler's has an impressive array of talent. Lastly there is the club experience. There's a pool table, coffee bar, beer, and TV's. This is the perfect place for grooms and groomsmen to get ready before the wedding. It's the perfect place to slow down and appreciate some of the finer things in life and not just get a hair cut. It's a place to meet and engage with other professionals.

So, I'm very proud to show you the completed virtual tour and commercial still images that I created for Butler's as part of the Google Business Photos program. Be sure to check out their website, and if you are a man in need of some grooming, you will find no better experience than Butler's!

Primeaux Cheese & Vino - Birmingham Google Business Photographers by nikonic1976@yahoo.com

Last month I got the opportunity to create a Google Business Photos virtual tour for Primeaux Cheese & Vino (pronounced Pre-mo but Mason, the owner, is from New Orleans so he put one his own personal twist). If you weren't familiar with them don't beat yourself up, they are brand new after all. But, now that you know, you must now put them on your list of places to check out. That is, unless you don't like either cheese not vino. But wait! Even if by some chance you are one of those few people in the world who dislike both, they still have you covered. They also make amazing artisan sandwiches. Kelly and I both give them 2 napkins up in that department! To be perfectly honest I'd never even heard of a Cheese and Vino place. I know that might make me sound uncultured but it's true. This is the first such place I've ever been to. I'm very impressed with the ambiance, the food, and everyone that works there is amazingly knowledgeable and personable, a rare trait to find these days! Check out the virtual tour and conventional commercial still images below. You can always check out Primeaux's website and Google + Local pages.

Joe's Italian Restaurant- Alabaster, Alabama - Google Business Photos by nikonic1976@yahoo.com

A couple of month's ago Joe's Italian Restaurant in Alabaster became the first restaurant I created a Google Business Photos virtual tour for. The food there (especially the deserts) is beyond excellent. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting. But my favorite thing about Joe's is the family. Sonia, her sister, and her mother carry on Joe's tradition and values, honoring his memory. There's a lot of pride in this family and it really shows through every aspect of their business. It was my pleasure to help Joe's stand out from the crowd with a Goggle Business Photos virtual tour. Check out the conventional still images and tour below. If you're ever in the Alabaster area you simply must put Joe's Italian on your list! [gallery type="circle" ids="1763,1753,1754,1755,1756,1757,1758,1759,1760,1761,1762"]
